How are you doing this week? Have you thought about “The Gift and The Cost”?
In hopes of finishing the Gospel of John, this past Sunday we continued an old sermon series, “So That You May Believe.” That’s the purpose of this Gospel, and one of the main purposes of the Bible – so that we may believe, so that we may be saved by grace through faith.
Do we believe? Do we believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came down from heaven to save us? Do we trust in Him as our Lord and Savior and rest upon His work for our redemption?
This means that Jesus cannot be an afterthought, an extra-curricular activity. He cannot be kept on the peripheral. He has to be your foundation, your center, your truth, your life, and your Lord.
Once Jesus is there, you are able to lay down your life as a gift like Mary, and count the cost like Lazarus. You are able to do this because Jesus first paid the ultimate cost by laying down His life for you and for your sins.
