Happy September! How are you? How is your week going? What have you presumed this week?
We had the blessing of Pastor Dan concluding our sermon series on the Disciplines of Grace from the book of James. James talks about how our lives are a mist and how we should not presume that we will have a long life, that we are in control, and that we have power.
The truth is that our lives are short, and we are not in control. Any suffering or even this pandemic shows us that we are not in control. God is in control, and we are to submit to Him. In our submission, our faith is expressed through our spiritual disciplines. We make the most of our time through these disciplines, and we worship God with our hearts and lives.
At the end of the day, we discipline ourselves in the grace of Christ, because it is Christ’s righteousness that is imputed to us. Even if we fail in our disciplines, we are justified by His life, death, and resurrection. However, just as we have been justified by grace, we are sanctified by grace. And we discipline ourselves in faith, trusting and boasting in Christ alone.
Take a moment this week and be reminded of the brevity of our lives. Be reminded of the grace and love of Christ, and may that empower you for your life of worship and discipline.
See you all on Sunday for Lord’s Day Worship! Please pre-register if you want to worship in-person (email us if you want the link)!
In Christ,
Pastor Tim
