How are you? How is your week going? Have you lived out your calling?
We all have callings. We are called to be a child, a sibling, a spouse, a parent, a worker, a student, a friend, and a neighbor. Each calling comes with its own job descriptions, joys, and worries.
However, the most important calling we have is the calling of being a child of God and a follower of Christ. We were able to see that this past Sunday.
A call to Christ is a call to follow Jesus and to obey His teachings. It’s a call to seek after Him and to walk with Him. It’s a call to take up the cross for His name’s sake.
It is also a call to newness. He gives us a new heart and a new identity. He gives us a new name- Christian. Our new identity is found in Christ.
We are able to receive the call to follow Jesus and to be new through our calling to believe. We all have different stories, but the foundation of our calling is the same. It’s found in faith in Jesus Christ.
We are able to have the calling of a new life, because Christ took on calling of the deadness of our sin on the cross. We are able to receive the calling of His name, because He received the calling of our name of “sinner” on the cross. We are able to seek and find Christ, because He found us first just like Nathanael in John 1. We are able to take up our cross and follow Jesus, because He took up the ultimate cross of sin for us.
New Life, may we live in our calling as a child of God and a follower of Jesus. May we live out our call to follow, our call to newness, and our call to believe.
Have a blessed week! If you want to support our KM STM team, come out to the sendoff service this Sunday at 10:15am. If not, we will see you at Lord’s Day Worship this Sunday!
In Christ,
Pastor Tim
