How are you? How is your week looking? Your word of encouragement is coming to you a little earlier than usual. Hope it doesn’t deceive you to think that it’s Wednesday.
My question for you this week is “Who is Jesus to you?” Is He a good teacher? A good role model? A friend? Your homeboy?
God has created us in His image, but there are so many times when we make God into our image. We make Jesus to be whoever we want Him to be. It’s in our sinful nature to do that.
That’s why we hear about people being offended by who Jesus really is. It’s because they have their own unbiblical picture of Jesus. And when the Bible confronts that view, they are offended.
But the gospel of John is clear from the very beginning as we saw this past Sunday. Jesus is fully God. He is the Word. He is the Word that reveals God. He is the Word that saves. He is the Word that is for us. Not only that, He is the Light that gives life to the world. And He gives this life by taking on flesh, living the perfect life we failed to live and dying the shameful death that was for our sins. He is full of grace and truth, fulfilling the Law to give us grace upon grace.
This is who Jesus is. Jesus is God. He is Lord. And He is Savior. The question is this: Is Jesus those things to you?
John wrote this Gospel so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, we may have life in His name. It’s going to be a fun series as we come back to this truth over and over again.
Have a blessed week. See you on Sunday for Lord’s Day Worship. Pray for our ministry, our worship, and our fellowship.
In Christ,
Pastor Tim
