How are you? How is your week going? I want to encourage you with these verses today:

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
    “therefore I will hope in him.”

25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
    to the soul who seeks him. (Lamentations 3:22-25)

The book of Lamentations is very depressing. Judah was taken captive by the Babylonian empire. There was separation, relocation, slavery, and death for families and friends. It was one of the darkest periods in the history of Israel.

And yet, in the middle of this dark book, we see the light of the author’s hope: the steadfast love of the Lord.

Is this your hope in the midst of hardship and difficulty? Is this the hope you cling to whether you’re in plenty or in want? In seasons of sunshine or of storm?

This is the only hope that gives life. It’s the only hope that endures. And it’s the only hope that gives us grace for today and strength for tomorrow.

This truth of God’s steadfast love and mercy is made into a reality through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He lived perfectly so that we would receive His perfect righteousness. He died the death for our sin so that we can have life forevermore.

This is all because He loves us and He pours His mercies upon us. He is the perfect Elder, Shepherd, and Overseer of our souls.

I pray that our officers and our members may live with character and in humility as seen in 1 Timothy 3. May this passage guide us as we approach elections in a couple weeks!

See you on Sunday for Lord’s Day Worship! Pray for one another and our ministry!

In Christ,
Pastor Tim
