How are you doing? How is your week going?

It’s the last day of May. Tomorrow is the start of June, and soon this year will be half-way finished. Each day comes and goes, and these days turn into weeks which turn into months which turn into years.

It is so easy for us to live life as a thoughtless routine of programs and rituals. We start schools, take the necessary exams, and get a degree. We have projects at work that need to be finished, and we look forward to our weekends and vacations. We go to church and bible study every week. We serve one another in various capacities. We may even read Scripture everyday.

But, through it all, the common theme of thoughtlessness and routine can characterize our lives. Before we realize it, the years have gone by, and our hearts have grown cold. We have forgotten about the importance of Christ and community, and we have replaced them with accomplishment and comfort. Church has become a building we go to instead of the identity that God has given us. Worship has become a hollow act of self-righteousness rather than a heart-felt and soul-enriching adoration onto our Savior. Truth has become an intellectual activity rather than the living bread our souls feed upon. Christ has been reduced to just a religion rather than our personal Redeemer and Restorer.

What does Jesus say to us? He says the same thing He told the Church in Ephesus this past Sunday: “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.”

Church, remember who you are, humble yourself, and repent. Come back to your first love, Jesus Christ, who is the One who loved you first. He is the One who hung on the tree of death so that you may eat from the tree of life. He is the One who took on the hell of God on the cross so that you may receive the paradise of God.

Come back to Him today. Come back to Him this week. Come back to Him and rejoice in His love for you.

We are on break for Friday Night Studies. If you can help with the Yard Sale, please come anytime between 6am-4pm on Friday and Saturday!

See you all on Sunday for Lord’s Day worship. Prepare your hearts for the Lord’s Supper! It’s the perfect time for you to attend June Topical Study after fellowship since we will be talking about The Sacraments.

In Christ,
Pastor Tim
