Hi all,
How you guys are enjoying your week. Just a reminder that our EM Retreat is fast approaching. We will be having EM Worship at the retreat site so you want to make sure to join us. Hope all of you guys can attend. Here’s today’s devotion:
Fri, Aug 20th – Jeremiah 30-31
Hope is probably one of the most crucial aspects of life. Why continue to dredge on day after day if there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Most people will work hard and endure thru suffering b/c their wish is that there will be better days ahead. We see this theme throughout the slave movement in the deep South where the slaves would continue to work hoping for freedom in the future.
We see this message of hope interwoven in the pages of Scripture. Especially in a book like Jeremiah, it was easy to become disheartened and want to give up. Through the majority of this prophetical book, Jeremiah would rebuke and call out God’s people b/c of their continual sinfulness. He would lay out the judgment that was about to come and the reason for it. This would lead to persecution in his own life and discouragement amongst God’s people.
But even in the midst of this book, we would see the light. The Lord gives the light of redemption as He tells of the time when His people will see the Promised Land and that promise is fulfilled in Jesus.
This needs to be the joy that gives us the reason to live everyday. When it is another thing that gives you ultimate hope, then you’re forgotten about your calling as a Christian.
Have a great weekend in the Lord. God bless!
SDG,
P. Ben
