Hey everyone,
Wow, it’s been an incredible two weeks! Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us and supporting us. It’s been really good being back in the States esp. seeing my family. I’m still dealing with jetlag but other than that, it’s been good. I already miss the people that we were working with out there from the village students to our brother. It is really amazing how the Lord provided so many opportunities to minister to others. I’d really encourage you guys to take some time to talk to our team. They had alot of incredible stories to share. Here’s today’s devotion:
Tuesday, August 17th – Jeremiah 18-22
Probably one of the most discouraging aspects of the Christian life is when you really try to be faithful to the Lord and others would persecute you for doing the right thing. It’s tough enough being a believer w/o others directly attacking you for holding to the truth. This is exactly what the prophet Jeremiah had to deal with. He was called by the Lord to preach a message of repentance but he would be constantly berated, not by Israel’s enemies but by Israel itself.
In our chapter today. Jeremiah would continue to used as God’s mouthpiece to call out his own people. Tragically, it would be a priest, Pashhur who would have him punished and thrown into the stocks.
One of the vital lessons that we learn today is how difficult and challenging our lives in Christ can be. When we live obedient Christian lives, the Lord doesn’t guarentee that we will be free from harm or struggle. Over these last few weeks, we’ve seen this in our missionaries as they have sacrificed so much in working with the Khmer people. Many of them have dealt with some severe diseases and illnesses but have persevered in doing the Lord’s work. I know that our entire team was challenged in our own personal walks to truly make the most of the opportunities that we have here.
Have a great week in the Lord and God bless!
SDG,
P. Ben
