Hi all,
How’s it going? Hope you guys are doing well. Just want to remind everyone to continue to be in prayer for Daniel Pak who will be leaving soon. He has alot of things to take care of before he leaves and prayer is needed. Here’s today’s devotion:
Wed, Feb 3rd – Leviticus 8-10
There are those certain positions that people are placed in where it is deemed necessary to have ceremony and proceedings to recognize the honor and duty. I remember an installation ceremony for a member of my church who was becoming a police officer. It was a serious time where a group of men were taking oaths to protect the city and assist the citizens as well. Within our chapters today, we see a much more elaborate process of ordination for priests It was lengthy b/c of the importance of the role and more importantly b/c of the One that they were serving. Reading thru these chapters, it is amazing the number of sacrifices that were offered as well as the number of offerings that were made.
The priests would also be used as mediators for God’s people. They would be the ones that would offer sacrifices for them. Amazingly in chapter 10, the sons of Aaron would offer up a unholy sacrifice to the Lord. More than likely, they were burning incense in the fire which was a pagan ritual. It’s really unbelievable b/c this was probably soon after they were ordained. Any proper ordination process goes into the importance of the call. Anyone called to ministry is called to take the Word seriously and guide God’s people into His righteous paths.
The priesthood of the OT would show that there needed to be a greater way and that would be found in the life of Jesus. Jesus would come as the greater High Priest that would offer the greatest sacrifice, Himself. Now, we have the priesthood of all believers meaning that we all have equal access to God and are able to devote ourselves to Him.
Have a great week in the Lord everyone and God bless!

P. Ben
